A series of weather alerts have been issued for Cadiz as 70km/hr winds are set to hit the province.

State weather agency Aemet has placed several areas under a yellow alert on Sunday and into the early hours of Monday.

The warnings affect both the Cadiz countryside and coastline, while a separate coastal warning is in force around the Strait of Gibraltar.

In the Campiña Gaditana, Aemet is warning of maximum gusts reaching 70km/hr, driven by the easterly Levante wind.

The yellow alert runs from 11am on Sunday until 5.59am on Monday, September 21.

The same warning and forecast gusts apply to the Litoral Gaditano, covering the Cadiz coastline.

A yellow warning represents what Aemet classifies as a low level of danger, although exposed areas could experience particularly strong gusts.

Conditions at sea are also expected to deteriorate around the Strait.

Aemet has issued a yellow coastal warning for the Estrecho-Costa area from 11am on Sunday until 11.59am on Monday.

Levante winds are forecast to reach 50 to 61km/h – force seven – in the Strait west of Tarifa and offshore to the south of Trafalgar.

The combination of strong easterly winds and rougher sea conditions could particularly affect exposed coastal areas around Tarifa and the Strait.
