This is the shocking moment a Moroccan soldier appears to hurl a large boulder at a young migrant attempting to make his way back from Ceuta.
The video, shared by independent Moroccan media outlets, allegedly captures authorities throwing rocks at a man climbing a hillside after trying to return home in the aftermath of the mass crossings into the Spanish enclave last week.
The images present a starkly different narrative to that promoted by Moroccan state-aligned media, which has largely focused on allegations that Spanish police mistreated migrants who crossed into Ceuta.
Some returnees have also claimed they were assaulted after being sent back across the border.
They alleged that Spanish police and soldiers used force while ordering them to leave, with both adults and minors reportedly affected.
The latest footage comes as the humanitarian toll of the crisis continues to mount.
At least 90 people are now believed to have died following the unprecedented surge, in which around 60,000 people crossed into Ceuta on foot or by sea from Morocco.
The number of people still missing remains unknown.
The scenes have fuelled growing concern among human rights groups as both Spain and Morocco face mounting scrutiny over their handling of one of the worst migration crises in the enclave’s history.
