A man has been arrested over the alleged murder of a 45-year-old woman who was found stabbed to death at her luxury home in Benahavis last week.
The suspect was detained just a day later on July 22 by the Guardia Civil in the nearby town of Istan, it emerged tonight.
The victim, reported to be Hungarian, was discovered in a pool of blood after the 112 emergency service received reports of a possible assault at a property in the Las Jacarandas urbanisation in Los Arqueros.
Investigators had previously ruled out the possibility that the killing was a case of gender violence.
Shortly after the woman’s death, the Spanish government’s delegate in Andalucia, Pedro Fernandez, said there was no evidence that the victim and the suspect had been current or former partners, meaning the case did not fall under Spain’s domestic violence framework.
The Guardia Civil has not yet released further details about the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the killing, and inquiries remain ongoing.
