This is the moment a man wanted in France over a fatal gangland shooting was arrested in Almeria while trying to flee to Morocco.

The Policia Nacional said the suspect was detained under an international warrant accusing him of involvement in the killing in the eastern French town of Montbeliard on June 14.

Investigators believe the murder was the result of a drug-related score-settling.

Police said the suspect had devised a plan to escape Europe by travelling to Morocco via southern Spain.

After receiving intelligence from their French counterparts, Spanish officers tracked his movements towards Almeria, believing he intended to board a ferry from the province’s coast.

A surveillance operation was launched at Almeria’s bus station, where officers arrested the man as he stepped off a coach, preventing him from continuing his journey.

Blue latex gloves key to investigation

French investigators said they uncovered a pair of blue latex gloves believed to have been worn by the gunman during the fatal shooting.

The discovery helped identify the suspect and led to the international manhunt.

Spanish police said the arrest was made possible thanks to close cooperation and the rapid exchange of intelligence with French law enforcement agencies.

The suspect is now expected to face extradition proceedings to France, where he is wanted in connection with the homicide investigation.
