A man has been arrested in Calahonda after attacking his partner while drunk, according to Mijas Local Police.
Officers were called to a property in the early hours of Monday, June 23, after a neighbour reported hearing a woman scream for help.
When police arrived, they found the alleged victim, who said her partner had assaulted her while intoxicated, leaving her with injuries.
The man was identified at the scene and arrested on suspicion of causing bodily harm.
He was informed of his legal rights before being transferred to the Guardia Civil, which has taken over the investigation.
Police then accompanied the woman to receive medical treatment before taking her to the Guardia Civil station to formally file a complaint.
Calahonda is a popular area for both British expats and tourists.
