A 54-year-old man has died after being pulled unconscious from the sea at a beach in Murcia.
Emergency services were called to Playa de Puntas de Calnegre, in the Lorca district of Ramonete, at around 12.30pm on Monday after reports that an unconscious man had been rescued from the water.
CPR was immediately started at the scene as emergency responders raced to save his life.
Civil Protection volunteers, Local Police officers, Guardia Civil patrols and an ambulance from the 061 emergency health service were all dispatched to the beach.
Despite their efforts, paramedics were unable to revive the man and could only confirm his death at the scene.
No further details have been released.
The death is the latest reminder for beachgoers to take extra care along Spain’s coastline as temperatures rise.
