One of the Costa del Sol’s most popular beaches has reopened for swimming after water quality tests confirmed conditions are once again safe.
Playa de Los Alamos in Torremolinos had been subject to a temporary bathing ban in recent weeks following concerns over water contamination.
The town hall confirmed on Friday that the latest analysis carried out by the Junta de Andalucia showed microbiological levels had returned to those required under current health regulations.
Authorities said the beach is now once again considered safe along its entire stretch.
The precautionary swimming ban was introduced after several sewage pipelines were damaged following flooding linked to the swelling of the Guadalhorce River.
The incident triggered concerns over water quality along parts of Malaga’s coastline, prompting continuous monitoring and regular testing by local and regional authorities.
Torremolinos council said it had worked closely with the Junta and other agencies throughout the incident to guarantee public safety and health standards.
Officials added that monitoring of bathing water quality will continue throughout the summer season, with any further updates communicated to the public.
