A fire has broken out at the Hospital de Torrevieja, forcing the evacuation of the second floor.
The blaze was reported at 12.09pm, according to emergency services.
Authorities said the affected area was immediately evacuated as a precaution to protect patients and medical staff, while firefighters launched an operation to contain the flames and ventilate the building.
The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
So far, no injuries have been reported, although emergency services remain on site and the operation is ongoing.
Five fire crews from the stations in Torrevieja and Orihuela were deployed to tackle the blaze and secure the hospital.
Health and local authorities are now monitoring the situation while assessing the extent of the damage and the possible impact on hospital services.
