After days of near-summer weather, the sunshine in Andalucia is giving way to rain, storms and even the risk of ‘blood rain’ as conditions perform a U-turn.
State weather agency Aemet has issued a yellow weather warning Friday in parts of Malaga, Granada and Almeria.
In Malaga, the warning specifically affects the Axarquia and Antequera areas.
The alert runs from 10am until midnight, with forecasts pointing to rainfall of up to 15 litres per hour.
Showers could be accompanied by thunderstorms and may be locally intense.
Other parts of Malaga province are not currently under warning, but unsettled weather is expected more widely.
The change is being driven by a so-called DANA – a high-altitude weather system known for bringing unstable conditions.
Skies will turn heavily overcast, with showers becoming more likely and more intense from midday onwards. In some areas, storms could also bring hail.
Adding to the mix, dust in the air is expected during the afternoon, raising the possibility of muddy rain as particles mix with precipitation.

Temperatures will fall across the province, particularly inland. In Malaga city, highs will range between 15C and 20C, while cooler spots like Ronda and Antequera could see lows of around 11C.
By Saturday, the official warning will be lifted, but conditions will remain unsettled.
Skies are expected to stay cloudy with occasional showers, especially inland during the afternoon, where storms could still develop.
Temperatures will hold steady, with light winds shifting easterly later in the day.
