Swimming has been temporarily banned at Los Alamos beach in Torremolinos after new water tests showed levels that make bathing unsafe.
The decision was announced by Ayuntamiento de Torremolinos on Thursday, following the latest analysis of seawater along that stretch of coast.
The problem dates back to late last year, when flooding from the Guadalhorce River damaged several sewage pipelines in nearby Malaga.
Since then, authorities have been monitoring water quality closely, carrying out regular tests even after earlier results suggested conditions had improved.
However, the latest findings have prompted a precautionary response.
The Ayuntamiento de Malaga is continuing repair work on the affected sanitation infrastructure, aiming to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
In the meantime, Torremolinos officials say the bathing ban is necessary to protect public health and follows existing regulations on water safety.
Local authorities will keep testing the water in the coming days to track any changes and adjust measures accordingly.
Residents and visitors are being urged to follow official guidance until the restriction is lifted.
Further updates are expected as new test results come in.
