Almeria may be packed with postcard-perfect towns and beaches, but when it comes to what people are actually searching for online, one destination stands clearly above the rest.
New analysis based on Google Trends data shows that Mojacar is by far the most sought-after location in the province, dominating search interest throughout the year and especially during peak travel months.
The whitewashed hilltop town, paired with its beachside resorts, consistently tops the rankings, maintaining a clear lead over its closest rivals.

Unlike other seaside areas, Mojacar’s appeal appears constant – not just a summer hotspot, but a year-round destination attracting both tourists and property hunters.
It’s not surprise, then, that a five-star holiday resort is currently being built in the municipality.
Second tier: Coastal favourites hold strong
Behind Mojacar sits a cluster of coastal towns that generate steady levels of search interest.
Vera stands out for its consistency, driven by both tourism and residential demand, while Garrucha continues to draw attention for its marina and seafood scene.
Carboneras also features prominently, largely thanks to iconic spots like Playa de los Muertos, which pulls in a high volume of location-specific searches.
Cabo de Gata
In contrast, the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park behaves differently.
Rather than one dominant destination, search interest is split between several smaller enclaves. Places like San Jose, Agua Amarga, Las Negras and La Isleta del Moro all appear regularly in the data.
This fragmentation is largely down to how people search, often by specific beaches rather than municipality names.
Inland gems still attracting attention
Away from the coast, a handful of inland locations are also holding their own.
Tabernas – famous for its desert landscapes and film sets – continues to draw steady interest, while Cuevas del Almanzora appears thanks to its historical appeal.
The analysis tracks relative search interest over the past year, rather than absolute numbers, giving a clear picture of which destinations are trending among users in Spain.
Major urban centres such as Almeria city and Roquetas de Mar were excluded to avoid skewing the results.
