This is the moment a knifeman was gunned down outside a major airport in Spain.

Shocking CCTV footage shared on X shows tourists fleeing in panic by a bus stop near Gran Canaria airport on Saturday.

An 18-year-old, carrying a large knife, can be seen running from a group of Policia Nacional officers.

At one moment he is seen running directly towards an officer and attacking him, before he is ultimately shot to death.

According to police sources cited by El Dia, the teen had allegedly tried to rob a taxi driver moments earlier.

He was then seen moving aggressively towards other people in the area, they claimed.

Authorities were alerted and a Policia Nacional squad rushed to the scene.

The suspect, however, refused to obey their commands and only became more aggressive, including lunging at police officers with the knife in his hand.

After several attempts to neutralise the suspect, the force said it had no choice but to shoot.

The High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) has confirmed that the young man was shot five times, one of them in the neck.

Paramedics were called but they could do little else than confirm the man’s death at the scene.

An investigation has been opened into the incident.
