The Costa del Sol has been rocked by yet another shooting.

Two men, aged 22 and 26, have been arrested after multiple shots were fired in the town of Benalmadena.

The incident occurred at 11.30pm on Monday night but details only emerged on Tuesday.

Sources close to the investigation told news agency EFE that the shootout was part of a love rivalry.

According to reports, a 27-year-old man called in police after several people began hitting and damaging his car while he was inside.

The attackers then fired several shots at the vehicle in a bid to force him out.

Fortunately, the intended victim was able to flee the scene without being injured.

Local police officers found shell casings and cartridges at the scene, before the arrival of the Policia Nacional.

By 3.30am, the force managed to arrest a suspect after intercepting a car in the El Pinillo area of Torremolinos.

The victim was also arrested as he was wanted in another case, police sources said.
