A 24-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly killing a speech therapist who was treating his young son at a clinic in Valencia.
The suspect handed himself in to police in Burjassot on Monday evening, arriving with blood on his hands and allegedly confessing that he had killed another man.
According to Spanish media reports, the victim was a 32-year-old speech therapist who worked at a clinic in Valencia’s Marxalenes district.
The attack is understood to have taken place at around 6.15pm inside the healthcare centre on Calle Ingeniero de la Cierva.
The Policia Nacional has confirmed an arrest on suspicion of homicide and said officers are continuing to gather evidence.
Local reports suggest the father became convinced that his two-year-old son may have been the victim of abuse after allegedly finding the child without a nappy and with his trousers lowered during a therapy session.
According to witness accounts cited by local newspapers, the father allegedly demanded access to security camera footage before a confrontation broke out.
Investigators have not publicly confirmed the details of those claims, which remain part of the ongoing inquiry.
Knife recovered
Police sources told Spanish media that officers have recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack. The weapon is reported to have a blade measuring around 15cm.
The suspect spent Monday night in police custody and is expected to appear before a judge once investigators complete the initial stages of the case.
Authorities have not released the identities of either the suspect or the victim.
The investigation remains ongoing, with detectives from Valencia’s Homicide Unit working to establish the full sequence of events that led to the fatal stabbing.
