Earthquake rocks Sevilla as tremors shake homes and ‘wake locals from their siestas’

An earthquake has struck Sevilla with dozens of reports of homes shaking and furniture moving.

Locals rushed to X after being awoken from their siestas by the tremors on Sunday afternoon.

The 112 service said: ‘An earthquake of magnitude 3.6 and depth of 25km was recorded at 17:37 hours with an epicenter in El Coronil, Sevilla.’

It said it received calls from Sevilla city and Tomares from locals who said they felt shaking.

Locals rushed to X after being awoken from their siestas by the tremors on Sunday afternoon.

One local wrote on X: ‘The sofa in my house just shook. Has there been an earthquake in Sevilla?’

Several claimed their beds began shaking during the quake.

One added: ‘The furniture in my house just shook!’

Meanwhile another said: ‘An earthquake just woke me up from my siesta!’

The 112 said there were no reports of material damage or injuries.
