Emergency services handled 591 weather-related incidents across Andalucia over the weekend, with 26 municipalities activating local emergency plans.
The region remains at operational level one of its flood emergency plan following heavy rain, flooding and disruption to roads and public services.
Regional emergencies chief Antonio Sanz said on Monday that, despite the volume of calls, no serious incidents had been reported in the region.
Emergency services dealt with 269 incidents on Saturday and another 322 on Sunday.
Almeria recorded the highest total, with 168, followed by Malaga with 135 and Cadiz with 126.
Sevilla registered 76 incidents, Granada 44, Cordoba 30, Jaen seven and Huelva five.
Orange warning in Ronda
Aemet placed Malaga’s Ronda district under an orange rain warning from midday until 10pm on Monday, with downpours potentially reaching 30mm in an hour.
Yellow rain and thunderstorm warnings also covered parts of Almeria, Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada, Jaen, Malaga and Sevilla. Huelva was the only Andalucian province without a warning.
Storms in Malaga’s Sol, Guadalhorce and Ronda districts could bring hail.
Sanz urged residents to remain cautious, particularly on the roads, and never attempt to cross flooded areas.
Emergency plans and phone alerts
Of the 26 municipalities with local emergency plans activated, 13 were in Almeria, five in Malaga, four in Cadiz, three in Granada and one in Sevilla.
An ES-Alert mobile phone warning was also sent to residents across 50 Almeria municipalities ahead of potentially intensifying rainfall.
Rincon de la Victoria recorded 63.2mm of rain on Sunday, while El Ejido registered 69.2mm on Saturday.
Road closures
Four stretches of road were reported closed in both directions on Monday: three in Cordoba province and one in Sevilla.
The affected routes included the CO-4103 between Bujalance and Villa del Rio, the CO-4207 between Montilla and Montalban de Cordoba, and a section at La Zarza bridge.
In Sevilla province, the SE-6300 remained closed at Lebrija.
Drivers have been urged to follow emergency crews’ instructions and avoid taking risks around standing or flowing water.
