A weather alert has been issued for part of Alicante’s coastline on Thursday.

The yellow-level warning comes from state weather agency Aemet.

It encompasses the majority of the southern half of Alicante province, stretching from Benidorm to Murcia.

Between 11am Thursday and 6am Friday, meteorologists are warning of strong coastal winds of up to 60km/hr.

Such gales could bring waves of up to three metres, according to Aemet.

Swimmers are advised to be aware of the strong seas over the warning period.
