The ‘burned’ and bound body of a man has been found dumped in a ravine in Mijas.

The corpse was discovered in a rural area of the municipality on Wednesday.

According to police sources quoted by EFE, the body showed ‘signs of violence’ and was tied up.

The find was made by local police but the Guardia Civil have taken over the investigation.

The victim is believed to have been dead for several days.

The corpse has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Malaga, where an autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause and time of death.

Police officers working the scene have collected various pieces of evidence, including fingerprints.

Sources told Diario Sur that the body showed signs of ‘having been burned’ and was found with a hood over his head ‘or next to it’.

The victim was found in a difficult-to-access ravine near the Calaburras lighthouse.

It comes just 48 hours after a British man was gunned down in Sitio de Calahonda, also in Mijas.

He was walking home from football practice in Finca Naundrup when he was shot at by a man donning a face covering.

The shooter got away in a dark-coloured Cupra car which was later found dumped and on fire.

There is no suggestion from the authorities, at this stage, that the two cases are linked.
