The Costa del Sol is in for a scorcher of a weekend following months of storms and rainfall.

According to state weather agency Aemet, things are finally turning around in Andalucia this week, with highs of 28C predicted along its coastline.

The temperatures will begin their ascension on Tuesday, entering the low to mid 20s by Thursday before peaking in the high 20s over the weekend.

Saturday looks set to be the warmest day on the Costa del Sol this week.

The hottest municipalities will be Manilva and Estepona, with highs of 28C.

Marbella, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Malaga and Nerja, meanwhile, will see highs of 26C.

The temperatures will increase further for inland areas such Coin, where the mercury is expected to reach 31C.

Similar readings are expected in inland Andalucia, including Sevilla and Granada.
