The latter half of Semana Santa (Holy Week) in Spain sees most shops and supermarkets close.

However, some will open their doors depending on their locations, while others operate on reduced hours.

Below are the opening hours of the main supermarket chains today and tomorrow.

Mercadona: Stores will be closed on both Thursday and Friday in regions where these days are public holidays, including Andalucia. They will reopen on Saturday, April 19.

Carrefour: Operating on a mixed schedule; some stores will remain open on Thursday and Friday, while others may be closed. It’s advisable to check the specific hours of your local store using Carrefour’s online store locator. In Malaga province, it says many of its stores will open between 10am and 10pm on both days.

Lidl: Many Lidl stores will remain open on both Thursday and Friday nationwide, but there may be variations. For example, they will close in Sevilla on Friday, but remain open in Malaga province.

DIA: Most DIA stores will remain open throughout Semana Santa, including Thursday and Friday, though some may operate on reduced hours. It’s recommended to verify with your local store.

Alcampo: Generally, Alcampo stores will be open during the entire Semana Santa period, including Thursday and Friday, following their usual hours. However, some locations might have adjusted schedules, so it’s best to confirm with your local store.

Hipercor: Stores will be open with special hours from 11am to 9pm on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday (April 17, 18, and 20).

Ahorramas: Stores in Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha will close at 3pm on Thursday and remain closed on Friday.

Aldi: Most stores will be closed on Thursday and Friday. Some may operate during morning hours throughout the week. Confirm with your local store for specific times.

For the most accurate information, it’s advisable to use each supermarket’s online store locator to check the opening hours of your local branch.
