This is the moment a half-tonne bull leaped over the barrier at a bullring in Murcia.

Footage taken by a spectator shows the animal running towards one of the matadors before suddenly jumping over the wooden fence and almost hitting the crowds.

The dramatic scenes unfolded at Murcia’s bullring on Sunday during the final event of the city’s 2026 Feria Taurina.

Malacara, a 508kg black bull, caused the first scare almost immediately after entering the ring when it cleared the barrier separating the arena from the narrow passageway known as the callejon.

People stationed in the area were forced to quickly move out of the animal’s path.

The bull was returned to the arena – only to jump the barrier for a second time, this time close to one of the protected openings used by bullfighting personnel.

Murcia’s bullring later confirmed in its official account of the event that the sixth bull had ‘jumped twice into the exit passageway’.

Malacara was the sixth and final bull of Sunday’s event and came from the Los Espartales ranch.

Official information from the bullring lists the animal as weighing 508kg and having been born in February 2022.

It was assigned to Portuguese rejoneador Duarte Fernandes, who fights bulls on horseback.

Despite the dramatic escapes into the callejon, organisers reported no personal injuries resulting from the incident.
