A major firefighting operation is underway in Nerja after a forest fire broke out on Tuesday evening.
At least eight aircraft and dozens of firefighters have been roped in to help battle the flames.
The blaze was declared at around 7.30pm in the Arroyo de la Miel area of the town, according to Andalucia’s forest fire service Infoca.
A total of seven helicopters are fighting the wildfire from the air, including two light helicopters, three medium-weight aircraft and two heavy helicopters.
An additional coordination aircraft has also been deployed to direct and support the operation, bringing the total number of aircraft involved to eight.
On the ground, 76 forest firefighters are tackling the blaze alongside three operations technicians and an environmental officer.
Two fire engines and a medical unit have also been sent to the scene.
The cause of the fire has not yet been reported.
There has also been no official indication at this stage of evacuations, injuries or homes being threatened.
