This is the moment the body of a shooting victim was found sprawled out in the middle of a Marbella street in the latest episode of gangland violence.
The 33-year-old was shot twice in the torso in the early hours of Monday morning, the Policia Nacional has confirmed.
Footage shared online showed the unidentified man laying in the middle of the road in a pool of blood, as police officers directed traffic back up the one-way street.
One man can be seen sitting in his car, which is parked directly next to the corpse, with a look of disbelief on his face.
Emergency services had been alerted shortly after 2.15am following reports of a fight and gunshots on Calle Pintor Pacheco.
When emergency responders arrived, they discovered the victim lying in the road with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and chest.
Paramedics were unable to save him and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The man’s body was removed and transferred to Malaga’s Institute of Legal Medicine, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
Detectives are now investigating the victim’s background as they attempt to establish what triggered the killing and identify the gunman.
The Policia Nacional’s specialist UDEV violent and specialised crime unit has taken charge of the investigation.
Police have not yet disclosed whether any suspects have been identified and, so far, no arrests have been reported.
