A 50-year-old woman has died after being found floating in the sea off a Costa del Sol beach on Sunday morning.
Emergency services were alerted shortly after 10am when the woman’s body was spotted in the water at Rincon de la Victoria, east of Malaga city.
The Guardia Civil and paramedics were dispatched to the scene but could only confirm her death.
The tragedy marks the third fatal drowning on the Malaga coastline in just three weeks.
Only days ago, an 80-year-old woman died after being found floating face-down in the sea off El Palo, in Malaga city.
She was spotted near a buoy beyond the breakwaters opposite Calle Banda del Mar. Several people, including lifeguards, helped bring her back to shore, but medics were unable to revive her.
Before that, a 60-year-old man died at Guadalmansa beach in Estepona, between El Saladillo and El Padron.
Lifeguards and 061 medics reportedly performed CPR for more than an hour but were unable to save him.
