The border between Gibraltar and Spain has reopened after being shut for around an hour following a security alert over a suspected abandoned bag.
The crossing at the Gibraltar-La Linea frontier was closed in both directions to vehicles and pedestrians on Thursday while police investigated the item near the airport terminal.
The Royal Gibraltar Police confirmed at around 12.30pm that the restrictions had been lifted and that traffic was once again flowing normally in all directions.
During the incident, officers implemented traffic diversions as a precaution while the bag was examined.
Vehicles heading towards Four Corners and the Eroski area were temporarily redirected back towards the Kingsway Tunnel.
A security cordon was established around the affected area, forcing the complete closure of the border until checks had been completed and any potential risk ruled out.
Authorities had urged the public to avoid the area while emergency services carried out the operation.
No further details have been released about the contents of the bag or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
