This is the dramatic moment a wanted thug was chased through the streets of Orihuela Costa before being tackled to the ground and arrested.
The man, wanted by courts across Spain, tested positive for cocaine and attempted to deceive police with another person’s ID before smashing his way out of a patrol car and fleeing on foot.
According to the Orihuela Local Police, officers initially stopped the driver following a report from a member of the public.
During the roadside check, the man tried to identify himself using someone else’s driving licence. A subsequent drug test returned a positive result for cocaine.
When officers established his true identity, they discovered why he had tried to conceal it.
Police say the suspect was the subject of multiple arrest warrants issued by courts around Spain and was also driving without a valid licence.
The situation then escalated dramatically.
According to officers, the detainee became violent while in custody and broke a window and part of the door frame of the moving patrol vehicle before jumping out and attempting to escape.
A foot chase through a nearby residential area followed, with officers eventually catching and restraining the suspect.
Several police officers were injured during the arrest, according to the force.
The man has since been placed at the disposal of the courts.
Local Police praised the officers involved in the operation, describing it as a challenging intervention that ended with the suspect safely taken into custody.
No further details about the suspect’s identities or crimes have been shared.
