A 35-year-old man has died after being pulled unconscious from the sea in Murcia.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening at El Portus beach in Cartagena.
Emergency services were alerted at around 7.15pm after reports that a swimmer had been rescued from the water and was unresponsive.
People at the scene began performing CPR while waiting for help to arrive.
Civil Protection teams, Guardia Civil officers and a 061 emergency ambulance were dispatched to the beach.
Paramedics continued resuscitation efforts but were ultimately unable to save the man’s life.
It follows a series of drownings on Murcia’s beaches this month, including a 23-year-old man, a 77-year-old man and a 25-year-old man.
