This is the moment an abuser was filmed buying wine with his ex partner in a shop just minutes before stabbing her to death in a public square.

The shocking murder took place in Figueres, Girona, where the man is accused of fatally attacking his former partner despite being subject to a restraining order banning him from contacting her.

According to reports, the suspect had been released from prison just 24 hours earlier after serving a six-month sentence for previous episodes of abuse against the victim.

The case has reignited outrage in Spain over failures in the protection system for victims of gender violence, particularly in cases where women have already filed complaints against their aggressors.

Residents in Figueres said the victim had repeatedly expressed fears for her safety and felt ‘unprotected’ despite the restraining order.

Security camera footage obtained by Telecinco captured the pair together around 45 minutes before the attack when they entered a local shop to buy wine.

A shop assistant told Spanish broadcaster that the woman appeared withdrawn and uncomfortable.

‘She was standing a few steps behind him with her arms crossed, almost as if she was being forced to be there,’ the employee said.

The worker also claimed the man appeared intoxicated, with torn clothing and traces of blood already visible on him.

The victim was later stabbed to death in the street in front of horrified witnesses.

Residents described scenes of chaos after the attack, with several bystanders throwing themselves at the suspect to stop him escaping.

One witness said he struck the alleged attacker in the chest with a motorcycle helmet while others restrained him until police arrived.
