A blast of hot air is set to bring temperatures of up to 35C across Malaga province this week.
State weather agency Aemet says the mercury will begin to rise sharply from Wednesday before peaking over the weekend.
Tropical nights – when temperatures fail to drop below 20C overnight – are also expected along parts of the Costa del Sol.
By Wednesday, inland areas are expected to approach 30C, including highs of 29C in Antequera, while coastal towns across the Costa del Sol are forecast to hit around 27C.
Night-time temperatures will also rise significantly, with overnight lows along the coast expected to reach 18C before edging up to tropical-night territory later in the week.
On Thursday, towns including Marbella could record overnight lows of 20C, while several inland municipalities such as Archidona, Campillos and Fuente de Piedra are expected to break the 30C mark during the day.
Friday will bring even hotter conditions, with highs of 32C forecast in Alameda and Villanueva de Algaidas.
Temperatures across the Guadalhorce Valley – including Almogia, Ardales and Tolox – are also expected to exceed 30C.

The hottest day of the week is currently forecast to be Saturday, when northern parts of Malaga province could reach 34C, particularly around Fuente de Piedra, Alameda and Villanueva de Algaidas.
Meanwhile, coastal areas should remain slightly cooler thanks to sea breezes, with highs generally ranging between 26C and 28C along the Costa del Sol.
Temperatures are expected to ease slightly by Sunday, although much of inland Malaga province is still forecast to remain above 30C.
