Spanish bullfighter Alberto Duran is recovering in intensive care after suffering a serious goring during a bullfight in Madrid.
The incident took place on Sunday during the final qualifying round of the Copa Chenel, which was held in front of a sold-out crowd in Valdemoro.
Duran, originally from Zamora, was injured while facing the fifth bull of the afternoon, from the Baltasar Iban ranch.
The goring occurred as he was performing a pass with his left hand, known as torear al natural.
He had earlier been met with silence from the crowd after struggling with the sword in his first bout.
Following the incident, the matador was rushed to hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for a serious injury to the testicular area.
While the initial operation was carried out without complications, doctors later detected a blood clot in one of his legs, forcing surgeons to perform a second, urgent procedure.

According to reports, the operation involved a vascular bypass and lasted nearly three hours, continuing into the early hours of the morning.
Duran is currently being treated in the ICU, where his condition is described as stable and improving.
The incident is the latest in a series of serious injuries in the bullfighting world, highlighting the ongoing risks faced by toreros in the ring.
Earlier this month, legend Morante de la Puebla was gored in his rectum in Sevilla, before Roca Rey sustained a similar injury to his right thigh.
