A series of weather alerts have been issued by Aemet in Andalucia on Sunday.

The state weather agency has placed the entire provinces of Cadiz and Sevilla under a yellow-level warning for much of the day.

The alert begins at 6am and lasts until 7.59pm, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected.

According to Aemet, up to 15mm of rain per square metre could fall in an hour.

The yellow warning for thunder storms adds: ‘The stroms could be locally accompanied by small hail stones.’

Much of the region is expected to see periods of rain on Sunday, although nowhere else has been placed under a weather advisory.

On the Costa del Sol, scattered showers are forecast between 10am and 5pm.

Rain is also predicted across parts of Almeria, Granada, Cordoba, Jaen and Huelva.
