Two women have been arrested after allegedly pushing a mother and fleeing with her newborn baby in a pushchair in Jaen.
More than 20 Policia Nacional officers joined an urgent search in Andujar after the distressed mother reported the incident on Thursday morning.
She told officers the pair had approached her as she walked along a central street, shoved her hard and escaped with the pushchair carrying her daughter.
Police moved to block potential escape routes based on the direction the mother said the women had taken.
During the search, an officer spotted two women matching her description pushing a baby carriage.

He caught up with them and found the newborn inside. After checking she was unharmed, he returned her to her mother while fellow officers arrested the suspects.
Both women appeared before a judge and were released with orders to stay at least 300 metres away from the mother and baby.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances and possible motive behind the abduction.
