A manhunt is underway after a 35-year-old was shot dead at point-blank range in Murcia on Saturday.
The shooting occurred at around 4.30pm in Las Casas del Aljibe in Alhama de Murcia.
According to local newspaper La Opinion de Murcia, an argument broke out between two men who are believed to have been friends.
During the confrontation, one of them allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim at close range before fleeing the scene.
A witness raised the alarm after hearing a gunshot and seeing a person lying on the ground.
Two Guardia Civil patrols, from Alhama de Murcia and nearby Totana, were dispatched to the scene.
After discovering a man suffering from a gunshot wound, officers urgently requested medical assistance.
Paramedics raced to the area but could do nothing to save the victim.
Emergency services also treated a second man, aged 32, who had suffered minor injuries.
He remained conscious and did not require hospital treatment. Authorities have not yet clarified what role, if any, he played in the incident.
The Guardia Civil’s Judicial Police has taken charge of the investigation, which is being treated as a homicide.
The investigation continues.
