A serious crash occurred on the A-7 in Calahonda on Sunday evening.
The incident involved at least one car and a bus on the side of the road heading towards Marbella.
Photos shared online show the front of a green car completely destroyed.
The force of the impact also appeared to cause significant damage to the rear of the Avanza bus.
It is not yet known how many people were injured in the collision, nor the state of their injuries.
It comes after the DGT warned that Sunday would be one of the busiest days of the year on roads across Andalucia.
The weekend was described as the big August getaway, when the majority of Spaniards travel to their holiday homes.
It also coincided with almost 2,000 flights landing at Malaga Airport, making it the travel hub’s busiest weekend of the year.
