A 22-year-old man has been jailed after allegedly robbing two hotels, a burger restaurant and a food delivery driver while armed with a large knife.
The suspect is accused of committing four violent robberies and an offence of criminal damage during the early hours of August 4 and 5.
According to the Policia Nacional, the first attack took place at around 2.30am on August 4, when the young man entered a hotel wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
He initially asked the receptionist about booking a room before leaving the premises.
However, he allegedly returned a short time later, pulled out a large knife and threatened the receptionist, before taking money from the cash register and fleeing.
Two robberies in minutes
The alleged crime spree resumed the following night.
At around 1.30am on August 5, the suspect entered a burger restaurant and allegedly threatened a member of staff with a knife before stealing money from the till.
He then turned his attention to a food delivery driver working for the establishment.
Police say the 22-year-old threatened the rider and stole his motorbike, which was later abandoned in the street and recovered by officers.
But the suspect was not finished. Barely an hour later, another robbery was reported at a hotel close to Fuengirola’s Paseo Maritimo.
He allegedly entered the reception area and caused extensive damage, including smashing a glass panel with a plant pot.
He then stole money from the hotel’s cash register before fleeing, leaving the knife behind.
CCTV links crime spree
Police examined CCTV footage from the different locations, which led them to conclude that the same individual was behind all four robberies.
They launched a search operation and eventually found the 22-year-old hiding at a waste-management facility.
He offered no resistance when arrested.
Police said they also recovered the large knife used to intimidate the victims during the robberies.
The suspect was brought before a judge and has since been remanded in custody pending further proceedings.
