This is the moment a dog trapped beneath twisted metal and fallen branches was rescued from the aftermath of the devastating Almeria wildfire.
The Guardia Civil shared footage on Sunday showing officers freeing the frightened animal during search operations across the fire-ravaged area.
The rescue took place as emergency teams carried out their final sweeps through the worst-hit zones, checking destroyed homes, farmhouses and other inaccessible locations following the deadly blaze.
In a statement, the Guardia Civil said: ‘During today’s searches in the area affected by the Los Gallardos wildfire, we managed to rescue a dog that had become trapped among metal debris and branches.
‘Thanks to the effort and coordination of everyone involved, this little one is now safe.’
The rescue comes after authorities confirmed that search teams had completed their operation without finding any additional victims, leaving the death toll at 12.
In recent days, emergency services have also appealed for the public’s help to reunite pets displaced by the wildfire with their owners, while dozens of animals have been rescued from the disaster zone.
