The Costa del Sol University Hospital has won a prestigious European ‘Silver’ distinction.
The gong was awarded in recognition of its work improving cancer care through specialist training and collaboration.
The hospital, which forms part of Andalucia’s public health service (SAS), received the accolade as part of INTERACT2 (INTERACT-EUROPE100), an EU-backed initiative involving more than 100 cancer centres across Europe.
The programme aims to strengthen cooperation between healthcare professionals from different medical specialties, ensuring cancer patients receive more coordinated and comprehensive care.
The ‘Silver’ award is presented to hospitals that demonstrate a high level of commitment to interdisciplinary training, encouraging doctors, nurses and other specialists to share knowledge and work more closely together.
Hospital bosses said the recognition highlights the Costa del Sol Hospital’s ‘ongoing commitment to innovation, continuous professional development and improving the quality of treatment for cancer patients.’
INTERACT-EUROPE100 promotes collaborative learning and multidisciplinary approaches to oncology, allowing participating hospitals to adopt international best practices and strengthen research and innovation.
The award also reinforces the hospital’s position as one of the leading healthcare centres on the Costa del Sol, with a continued focus on improving patient outcomes and delivering high-quality cancer care through closer collaboration between medical teams.
