A Belgian expat has been arrested after allegedly beating his Spanish neighbour to death on the Costa Blanca.
The 58-year-old had a history of disputes with the victim, 43, and both began arguing moments before the fatal incident, the Policia Nacional said.
The events took place on Wednesday afternoon, in the Les Deveses neighbourhood.
Police believe the Spaniard died after falling and suffering a severe head injury during the confrontation.
The exact cause of death will be determined by a post-mortem examination.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but were unable to save the victim, who died where the altercation took place.
The suspected attacker was arrested and remains in police custody while awaiting a court appearance.

The victim’s body has been taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Alicante, where an autopsy will be carried out.
Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working to establish exactly how the dispute escalated into a fatal confrontation.
