Donald and Melania Trump were the star guests of San Juan celebrations in Barbate on Tuesday night.
Hundreds of people gathered on the beach of the Cadiz town to watch an effigy of the controversial pair be set on fire.
The annual festival, one of the most important dates in the fishing village’s calendar, saw locals and visitors come together to mark the symbolic start of summer with music, parades and bonfires.
Festivities began with a lively street procession from Plaza del Faro, winding its way through the town before ending at the Old Fish Market, where the main celebrations took place.
As midnight approached, crowds gathered for the highlight of the evening: the burning of ‘Juan and Juana’, the traditional effigies that are set alight each year during San Juan celebrations.
This year the figures were modelled on US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, attracting plenty of attention from spectators eager to photograph the creations before they went up in flames.

The figures were created by local artist Lorenzo, whose work once again proved a major talking point during the festivities.
Music throughout the evening was provided by the Asociacion Cultural Banda de Musica de Barbate, while local almadraba fishermen and various community groups helped organise the event.
Barbate’s councillor for festivals, Juan Miguel Munoz, thanked the volunteers, artists, municipal workers and local organisations who helped make the celebration possible.
