A 35-year-old female teacher has been arrested in Jaen for allegedly raping one of her 15-year-old male students.
The victim was allegedly 14 years old when the sexual assaults began, with his father ‘noticing a radical change in his son’s behaviour at home’, according to local newspaper Jaen Hoy.
The parent discovered the ‘sexual relationship’ and filed a report with the Family and Women’s Assistance Unit (UFAM) on May 22.
The teacher was arrested this week and brought before a judge, who ordered her provisional release without bail and imposed restraining and no-contact orders in relation to the minor.
She has also been suspended from her job without pay.
The father told authorities that for approximately a month his son had stopped attending his usual extracurricular activities, exhibiting social isolation and a high level of nervousness.
He was receiving calls in the early hours of the morning and had even spent an entire weekend away from home, which led him to suspect that something was happening in his environment, outside of his home.
The father informed the school of certain incidents that led him to suspect his son was seeing his teacher.
He stated that his son had received a watch as a birthday gift, an expensive item beyond the family’s means, and that he had witnessed his son occasionally walking away from the phone to avoid being heard.
However, the father confirmed that the caller was an adult woman whom he recognised as his teacher.
The father received information from acquaintances and family members indicating that they had seen the boy with an older woman in a coastal area.
The school immediately activated its internal protocols, removing the teacher from direct instruction of the boy.
The police investigation determined that there was sufficient evidence to proceed with the teacher’s arrest.
The investigation continues.
