A young man has allegedly been stabbed during a violent altercation at the Alhaurin el Grande feria.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, before a group of youths reportedly surrounded and attacked the ambulance sent to treat him.
The event prompted an emergency response after reports that at least one person had suffered knife wounds.
According to information published by local social media channel Fuengirola Se Queja, paramedics treated the injured man at the scene before placing him inside an ambulance for transport to hospital.
However, the situation is said to have escalated dramatically moments later.
Witnesses claim a group of young people surrounded the ambulance and began striking it from multiple sides while the victim was inside.
Some reportedly attempted to smash the vehicle’s windows as medical staff prepared to leave the scene.
No official details have yet been released regarding the identity of the injured man or the severity of his injuries, and his current condition remains unknown.
The circumstances that led to the alleged stabbing have also not been clarified.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any arrests have been made or whether police intervened in relation to the reported attack on the ambulance.
British expats today said there seemed to be an increased police presence in the town.
The Spanish Eye has contacted the relevant authorities for comment.
