A leading Malaga cardiologist has revealed the best fruit for your heart, according to the latest studies.
In his latest TikTok video, Aurelio Rojas explains how cardiovascular disease remains one of the leading causes of death in Spain.
Conditions such as heart attacks, strokes and hypertension affect millions of people each year, making heart health a major public concern.
While cutting back on ultra-processed foods is a well-known recommendation, Rojas says there is one simple addition that could make a real difference.
It’s not the usual suspects like kiwi or beetroot.
Instead, Rojas highlights strawberries as one of the best fruits for heart health, backed by their nutritional profile and growing scientific evidence.
According to the cardiologist, strawberries offer several key benefits linked to cardiovascular protection.
First, they help improve insulin resistance and control blood sugar spikes. Their combination of fibre and polyphenols supports more stable glucose levels, which is crucial for reducing long-term cardiovascular risk.
They may also support weight management. Rojas explains that strawberries can stimulate the production of GLP-1, a hormone involved in appetite regulation that has gained attention for its role in metabolism and weight loss.
On top of that, they help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress – two major drivers of heart ageing and disease progression.
The recommended amount is around 150 to 250 grams per day, which works out to roughly 8 to 15 strawberries depending on their size.
It’s an easy habit to build and one that doesn’t feel like a sacrifice.
