A man has been arrested in Malaga after allegedly cornering a woman inside the entrance of an apartment building before later attempting to take a child, according to sources close to the investigation.
The incident happened at around 8pm on Tuesday in Calle Albacete in the Miraflores de los Angeles neighbourhood.
According to local reports, the woman told police that a man trapped her inside the building’s entrance hall, but the suspect fled when another neighbour appeared.
Local Police patrols were dispatched to the area and launched a search operation to find the alleged attacker.
During the search, officers located the suspect while he was being confronted by several members of the public, who accused him of grabbing a child and allegedly trying to take him away.
The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted sexual assault and unlawful detention.
Following his arrest, he remains pending further questioning by the National Police, who are continuing to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
