A 3.2 magnitude earthquake has shaken Granada province this morning, sending a wave of alarm across the region.
The quake struck at 11.12am, with its epicentre in the town of Jayena, according to Spain’s National Geographic Institute (IGN).
The tremor was particularly felt in Granada city and across surrounding towns in the metropolitan area.
The movement was shallow – just five kilometres deep – which meant many residents clearly noticed the sudden shake despite its moderate magnitude.
Within minutes, social media lit up with reactions from across the province.
Locals described a sharp but brief jolt that rattled nerves and left many wondering what had just happened.

One posted on X: ‘Earthquake in Granada, everything just shook right now but without noise, a silent earthquake.’
While no damage or injuries have been reported, the latest tremor is yet another reminder that Granada remains one of Spain’s most seismically active areas.
