A man who worked at a private car park near Malaga Airport has been arrested by the Policia Nacional for allegedly using a customer’s car to carry out a burglary.
The 37-year-old attempted an ‘alunizaje’ (ram-raid) on his own workplace, using a tourist’s vehicle to smash through the office and steal the company’s safe.
The suspect is accused of crashing the vehicle repeatedly into the entrance of the car park office in the Villa Rosa industrial estate, before escaping with the business’s cash box.
The incident, of which details only emerged this week, took place on the night of August 31, when emergency services were alerted to a break-in at a vehicle pick-up and drop-off facility serving Malaga Airport.
According to the initial report, the assailant had driven a car into the front of the office several times before fleeing the scene.
Investigators reviewed CCTV footage and quickly identified the perpetrator, who turned out to be an employee of the very company targeted.

Detectives believe the man used his access to the lot to take a car entrusted to the firm by a customer.
That same car was then used to ram the office repeatedly until the suspect gained access to the interior, where he allegedly seized the safe.
The suspect then set fire to the vehicle and abandoned it nearby. Once the blaze was extinguished by the fire brigade, police discovered the stolen safe on the back seat.
The man is facing charges related to robbery, vehicle theft, arson, and breach of trust.
