Police in Benidorm have issued key advice to parents after a couple became separated from their child for almost an hour over the Easter weekend.

Footage shared by the force shows the little girl hugging her father as he carries her towards her mother.

Dozens of fellow beachgoers can be seen applauding while two police officers look on.

The Policia Local de Benidorm said: ‘A round of applause that comforted these parents who had gotten lost for a frightening 45 minutes.’

Footage shared by Benidorm police shows the little girl hugging her father as he carries her towards her mother.

It said that officers had been looking after the girl while waiting for the parents to return.

Benidorm’s beach stretches for many kilometres with rows and rows of almost identical beds, making it easy to become disorientated.

For this very reason, the authorities have erected ‘visual references’ that act as markers or meeting points.

They are tall white poles with different figures on top of them, such as a beach ball or a little house.

The police added: ‘When you get to the beach, guide the little ones with visual references, but if you get lost, call us immediately. Our Beaches Force is here to help.’
