Tributes have poured in following the discovery of a missing Brit’s body in Portugal.
The corpse of Scotsman Greg Monks, 38, was found in a ravine on Wednesday morning after he disappeared from the resort of Albufeira last Tuesday night.
He had been enjoying the first night of a stag do trip with friends when he wandered off and vanished.
His sister Jillian Monks said today: ‘Didn’t think it would end like this. We are absolutely devastated. Greg was an amazing boy who everyone thought so highly of.
‘He was friends with everyone and always made us laugh. We will miss him every day. I just want to thank absolutely everyone for everything they did, from sharing the posts to going out looking, and phoning everywhere to get CCTV.
‘If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. Miss you forever, brother.’
Tributes have poured in for the Glasgow man on social media.
One commenter said: ‘Heartbreaking news. Rest in peace, Greg Monks. My thoughts are with Jillian and the rest of your family. You were one of the good guys in life. God bless you, mate.’
A second added: ‘Thinking of you and the family. You have all done him immensely proud. You are all in my thoughts. Sending you lots of love.’
A third said: ‘So sorry for your loss. A devastating outcome for you all and for all his friends too.’
Greg’s body will now undergo an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
