Spain’s Dirección General de Trafico (DGT) has confirmed multiple road closures across Malaga province this Wednesday due to heavy rain brought by Storm Leonardo.
Several routes are flooded or blocked by landslides, with the Serrania de Ronda among the worst affected areas.
Some inland towns have recorded over 80 litres/m2 in just a few hours, with Alpandeire close to 90 litres/m2.
Roads currently closed
Main routes:
- MA-8302 – Estepona, km 10
- A-366 – Guaro
- A-7150 – Casares
Closed due to flooding:
- A-373 – km 49, Cortes de la Frontera (both directions)
- A-7286 – km 12, Campillos (both directions)
- MA-244 – Villanueva del Rosario
- MA-4100 – km 2, Villanueva del Trabuco
Closed due to landslides:
- MA-8401 – km 10, between Cortes de la Frontera and Jimera de Libar (fully closed)
- A-369 – km 28.2, Algatocin
Traffic difficulties (but not yet closed)
The A-7 remains open but traffic is complicated in several sections due to heavy rain:
- km 1056–1064 between San Pedro Alcantara and El Velerin
- km 1033 at Marbella
- km 1049 at Nueva Andalucia
The DGT urges drivers to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.
