The desperate search for a 73-year-old man who vanished after going for a walk in Estacion de Cartama on Sunday has ended in tragedy.
The body of the missing man, named only as Jose, was discovered during the search in Cartama on Wednesday.
He had last been seen leaving his home early in the morning. His family raised the alarm after he failed to return and could not be contacted.
The search operation was being coordinated by the Guardia Civil, with support from Local Police, Civil Protection and dozens of volunteers.
Searches continued until after 10pm on Monday, but were forced to stop when darkness and heavy rain made conditions unsafe. His corpse was tragically found on Wednesday.
Concern was high due to the impact of Storm Leonardo, with the municipality having been under an orange weather alert.
