Blood donations are flooding in from across Spain following an appeal by medical authorities in the wake of the Cordoba train disaster.
The Guardia Civil on Monday said at least 50 agents have provided donations, including 25 officers in the Centro de Salud de Ibros and 25 others in Andujar hospital.
But it’s not just the security forces showing their solidarity, as the number of donors in Andalucia has tripled over the past two days.
Across the region, 2,990 units of blood were collected on Monday, a 300% increase compared to a typical day.
It came after the Andalucia Health Service (SAS) appealed to the public to give blood to help treat the 122 people injured in the Cordoba crash.
In Malaga province, the director of the Blood, Tissue, and Transfusion Centre, Gracia Garcia, told Diario Sur that blood donations skyrocketed by 156% on Monday.
It means that the number of units collected daily jumped from 200 to 512.
Anyone looking to donate blood in Andalucia can find information about donation points at the SAS website here.
